You don’t need to be an archaeologist, speak Latin or own your own armour in order to join the Butser IX Legion.
You don’t even have to become a soldier – whether your special interest is in cookery, mosaics, scholastics or any other facet of Roman life we will be glad to hear from you .
All you need is enthusiasm for all things Roman , some spare time and £20 a year – we will arrange the rest.
To be a full member you have to be over 18 but we have many associate members who are younger.
